When it comes to fitness bands and smart watches in the budget category, there are always some compromises. I have reviewed a lot now to know that not all claims are true. Either the calculation of truly dead steps or software is interference. But one company that has given the time of a reliable fitness band and again is Xiaomi. The latest Redmi Smart Band Pro is being obeyed as ‘sportswatch’ and this is what I think on the device.
Redmi Smart Band Pro: What’s good?
Redmi Smart Band Pro has an AMOLED display of 1.47 inches. It’s a little smaller than Mi Band 6 which has a 1.56 appearance of AMOLED. But remembering a more rectangular shape, this looks greater than Mi Band 6. However, this has more right in my hand. Long Mi Band 6 does not match my sleek wrist.
The display on a new device is very good and works well in bright sunshine too. Keep in mind that features that are always active must be turned on from the application. Redmi Smart Band Pro has a TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) Strap, which is a mixture of rubber and plastic. It doesn’t make the most convenient fit, especially if you wear it tight, which is needed for most accuracy with the reading of the heartbeat.
Redmi Smart Band Pro is billed as ‘sportswatch’ which remembers packing a number of features and can trace more than 110 fitness modes. While I’m not sure I would call it a full smartwatch, this remains an accurate fitness tracking device. The right step is with Redmi Smart Band Pro. I also used it to track the indoor cycling session too and found this accurate. The range of heartbeat shown is similar to what Apple Watch 3 displayed.
It will also detect automatically if you are in the middle of the outdoor road, above the treadmill or out to be managed. Again, the band is very right with this feature. Every time, I started my daily journey, it detects this quickly and accurately. And when I stopped, even for a few seconds, it would automatically pause the session.
The band is also equipped with 5ATM water resistance so you can take it to swim and track the session too, provided you have access to the pool in this pandemic period. This device is also equipped with a blood oxygen level tracking, sleep tracking, heart monitoring. All of this can be found by swiping from the main watchface. All exercise modes are also listed here too and you can adjust this according to preferences.
You can choose more options for Watchface from Xiaomi Wear App. The band will also track the level of stress, even though you have to turn on monitoring throughout the day from the application. This means the consumption of a significant battery life.
Redmi Smart Band Pro will also let you track how many times you stand, the number of calories burned, daily training minutes. You can set a daily step target too. The overall system does remind me of Apple Watch, where you have to finish your ‘ring’ for that day. It can be a good motivator to keep going if you just started your fitness trip.
This device is compatible with Apple Health and Strava Fitness Apps too. The device will also display a notification, even though again you have to provide application notification access from the Wear Xiaomi application. But you have to turn on notifications for each application individually, because everything is turned off by default. This may seem annoying, but at least it ensures the device is not flooded with random notification.
