IAF’s fleet of C-17 and IL-76 transport aircrafts on stand by for evacuating Indian citizens from Ukraine

The Indian Air Force was directed to all possible evacuation of Indians from Ukraine, spokesman for Force Force, Wing Commander Ashish Moghe said on Friday.

Speaking to India Today TV, WG CDR Ashish Moghe said that IAF had placed the transportation fleet of transportation on standby.

“The Indian Air Force has placed its fleet from C-17 and IL-76 aircraft on standby to evacuate residents from Ukraine. The Indian Air Force is directed to any requirements for the evacuation of our citizens from Ukraine,” Ashish Moghe said.

The Globemasters C-17 American and the IL-76 Transport aircraft are the ones who are most capable of flying distance with around 400 passengers. The C-17 transport aircraft is the key to evacuating residents and officials from Kabul when the Taliban arrested Afghanistan last year.

20,000 Indians stuck in Ukraine

Harsh’s foreign secretary Vardhan Shringla said on Thursday that there were around 20,000 Indians in Ukraine and from them, nearly 4,000 had returned to India in the last few days.

 

The government seeks to evacuate Indian citizens from Ukraine through the crossing of their land with neighboring countries and they will then be taken home, the official source said.

The Indian Embassy in Ukraine has shared information about evacuation on social media platforms. In the latest updates, the embassy told that 470 Indian students arranged to get out of Ukraine and entered Romania through the Porubne-syrup border on Friday afternoon.
