New Delhi: Chinese bridges throughout Lake Pangong in East Ladakh are being built in an illegally held area, the government told parliament on Friday. It added that it expects other countries to respect the sovereignty and integrity of Indian territorials.
“The government has recorded a bridge built by China at Lake Pangong. The bridge is being built in areas that continue to be under the Illegal occupation of China since 1962,” the government told the parliament in a written response.
“The Indian government has never received this illegal occupation. The government has explained several occasions that the Jammu & Kashmir union area and Ladakh are an integral part of India and we expect other countries to respect India sovereignty and territorial integrity,” it added.
The bridge, which is 8 meters wide, located in the south of the Chinese army field base on the northern edge of Pangong where the Hospital and Chinese forces accommodation were seen during the deadlock between Indian and Chinese forces in 2020.
Since 2020 – and especially after violent face-off in the Galwan River where 20 Indian soldiers were killed in a row of tasks – more than 50,000 troops from both parties had been deployed in East Ladakh – from the Ministry of Plains to the north to the Demachok area further south .
China’s bridge construction threatens to destroy the subtle tranquility that has ruled since then.
India has been involved in talks with China for the process of releasing.
“Our approach in this talk has and will continue to be guided by the three main principles, that, (i) both parties must truly respect and observe LAC; (ii) No parties must try to change the status quo unilaterally; and ( III) All agreements between the two parties must be fully obeyed, “the government said.
The last round of talks between senior Indian and Chinese commanders was held on January 12. They agreed that both parties would work for resolving the remaining problems at the beginning, restoring peace along the actual control line.
In Chinese reports, changing places in Arunachal Pradesh, the government insists that the northeastern state is an integral part of India.
