Mumbai: Customs authorities at the Mumbai global air terminal held onto 3.8 kg undeclared gold hid in espresso powder containers and some private things from a gathering of Kenyan ladies who had shown up from Sharjah and captured one of them, an authority said on Sunday.
He said the authorities actually look at 18 Kenyan ladies at the air terminal prior to holding onto the gold.
The gold as bars, wires and powder was disguised in espresso powder bottles, linings of internal wear, footwear and masala bottles being conveyed by the ladies. An aggregate of 3.8 kg gold worth a couple of crores was seized, he said.
One Kenyan lady was captured as she was conveying gold in enormous amount while others were permitted to go, he added.
