Chairman of the Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath praised the Prime Minister to cleanse the National Project Sarku Nahar, who was trapped in a pipe for almost four decades.
With the button press, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the National Project Sarkyu Nahar, who was waiting for the past 40 years, in Balrampur at Uttar Pradesh.
The canal system is expected to benefit the farmer’s lakh in the eastern part of the country that has dealt with the problem of lack of water and irrigation. The National Project Sarku Nahar began in 1978, but the work was delayed because what officials said were the lack of continuity of budget support, coordination between partners, and adequate monitoring.
Two years after the Prime Minister of Modi in power in the center, this project was brought to the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana in 2016 with the target to solve it in a time-bound manner. According to the Prime Minister, the project remained incomplete for four decades then finished in just four years.
Prime Minister arrived at Balrampur at around 1pm on Saturday and took the stage along with the minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, Minister of Union Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and other senior officials and politicians.
In the photo shared by Ani’s news agency, Modi can be seen reviewing the project model before the inauguration.
Welcoming Prime Minister Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat highlights that the 6,623 kilometer canal system will provide water guaranteed to irrigate more than 14 hectares of land for the interest of around 29 nine-district lakh farmers in the area – Bahraich, Shraivas, Gonda, Balrixi, Siddharthnagar , Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Gorakhpur, and Maharajanj.
The Head of Yogi Aditalisisath’s head praised PM Modi to clean the project trapped for almost four decades.
“This project was approved in the same year I was born,” said the Head of the Minister. “However, this scheme gets wings when Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives. He has cleared more than 100 such schemes throughout the country trapped in the pipe.”
Prominent features of the Sarku Nahar National Project:
• Five rivers – Ghaghara, Saryhu, Rapti, Karaga and Rohini – have been estimated under the project to ensure optimal use of water resources in the region.
• Sub channel with a length of 6,600km has been linked to the 318km main channel.
• This project will help irrigate more than 14 lakh hectares of land and benefit around 29 lakh farmers more than 6,200 villages.
• Canal systems are also expected to protect the districts to the top of repeated flooding.
