‘Medical students returning from Ukraine cannot automatically be offered admissions in Indian medical colleges’

Medical students who returned from Hit-hit Ukraine could not be automatically offered acceptance at Indian Medical College, but the authorities explore the choice to ensure that they could continue their learning, Lt Gen (Retd) Dr. Madhuri Kanitkar, Chancellor Nashik. Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (Muhs), said.

 

“We cannot immediately place these students in our college. There are students who enter this college (India) in achievements, and the standards of entry there cannot be diluted. The students who returned from Ukraine have chosen universities that have a teaching system and different curriculum.

 

“Every decision to rehabilitate or help students cannot be taken in isolation by the university. The National Medical Commission is looking at ways and means to overcome this problem. However, we try to see the possibility to ensure that students who are stress free and also continue to learn what is relevant , “he said.

 

Dr. Kanitkar said that data about students who are being compiled again, and more than 100 students who have re-registered on the Muhs website.

“We have invited information and forms provided on the Muhs website. More than 100 students have registered there now,” he said.
